Description

Interleukin 2 (IL-2) is a potent lymphoid cell growth factor which exerts its biological activity primarily on T cells. The recombinant human IL-2 contains 134 amino acid residues and has a predicted molecular mass of approximately 15 kDa.

Activity

Measured in a cell proliferation assay using the IL-2 dependent murine cytotoxic T cell line, CTLL-2, the ED50 is typically 0.05 – 0.25 ng/mL.

Endotoxin level is less than 1 EU per 1 ug of the cytokine, as determined by the LAL method.

Formulation

Recombinant human IL-2 is lyophilized from a sterile 0.2 μm filtered solution in Acetonitrile and TFA containing bovine serum albumin.

Reconstitution

Reconstitute human IL-2 with sterile PBS containing at least 0.1% human serum albumin or bovine serum albumin to prepare a stock solution of 10 g/mL of the cytokine.

Storage & Stability

Lyophilized human IL-2 is stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20°C to -70°C. Reconstituted human IL-2 can be stored under sterile conditions at 2°C – 8°C for one month, or at -20°C to -70°C (in a manual defrost freezer) for three months without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
