Insulin-Like Growth Factor 2 is a fetal growth factor that promotes cell proliferation, survival, and differentiation during embryonic development. It is a potent mitogen for stem cells and supports the expansion of diverse progenitor populations. Recombinant Human IGF-II Protein (Y12441H) is expressed from mammalian cells. It contains AA Ala 25 - Glu 91 (Accession # P01344.1), and is widely used in advanced cell culture, developmental biology, and stem cell research.

Stability and Reconstitution

Backgroud

IGF-2, also known as somatomedin A, is a 67-amino acid polypeptide that is highly expressed during fetal development and plays a major role in embryonic and placental growth. It signals through the IGF1R, IGF2R, and insulin receptor isoform A, with IGF2R functioning primarily as a clearance receptor that regulates IGF-2 bioavailability. IGF-2 is imprinted in most mammalian tissues, with paternal allele expression and maternal allele silencing, and dysregulation of this imprinting is associated with growth disorders and cancer. In cell culture, IGF-2 supports the expansion of pluripotent stem cells, hematopoietic progenitors, and mesenchymal stem cells, often in combination with other growth factors.
